Special Performance March 30th: Jair Dynast performed his song, “Art of Invention” and conducted a workshop to a special group of students at West Hill C.I. on March 30th. Students presented their own researched projects using the theme “The Change You Want to See” that culminated with Jair Dynast presentation on the same theme.

February 27th Special Performance Invitation: After an extremely successful performance and workshop for students at Winston Churchill C.I. on February 3rd, Jair Dynast was asked to come back by special invitation to perform as part of the school’s full assembly celebrations by the students and organizers for African Heritage Month.

February 25th Performance: Jair Dynast moved from Central Tech to a Harbord Collegiate approximately a block away to give another performance of “Art of Invention” and deliver the keynote address to the student body. At Harbord, Jair warmed up the students with his A Cappella using words that begin with “IN” as an INTRO to his speech and the performance that followed was very engaging as was evident by the thunderous applause from the students. Many students came up to Jair afterwards for pictures and autographs. A cast of students provided their own intruguing program of entertainment for fellow students in celebration of African Heritage Month.

February 25th Showcase: Jair Dynast took his performance to Central Tech where he energized the full student body to a rendition of “Art of Invention” with the music video acting as a backdrop. It was very well received and the students erupted in applause at the end which showed that it was an eye-opener for most given that Jair’s performance was held at 9:00 a.m. in the morning.

February 24th Showcase: Jair Dynast performed “Art of Invention” to a full assembly of students at Joseph Brant Senior P.S. plus he delivered the keynote address to students as part of their celebrations for African Heritage Month. Prior to his performance, Jair conducted a workshop for a select group of kids in a more intimate setting. This allowed them to interact with and ask him specific questions about his life not only as a recording artist and producer but also as a student athlete in basketball at a Division I JUCO in Texas

‘Art of Invention’ Song Honors Inventors for African Heritage Month

Malvern rapper, Jair Dynast ‘Art of Invention’ was released as a free mp3 download on February 3rd to coincide with his performance of the song for the first time to students at Winston Churchill Collegiate and it was an instant hit.

It is now available via a zshare link on jairdynast.net and in one day got 3,557 downloads. ‘Art of Invention’ is a song written to pay tribute to the significant contributions African-Americans inventors have made to modern society.

Jair’s performance is part of a special workshop that he is conducting across TDSB high schools during African Heritage Month. His workshop places emphasis on ‘this invention is black’ by highlighting nine African-American inventors. A website, ThisInventionIsBlack.com has been set up to pay tribute to the inventors, highlight their contributions and offer inner-city kids a place of inspiration all year.

Jair is a former Eastern Commerce graduate that traveled to Connecticut in pursuit of a basketball scholarship achieving success at a Division I JUCO in Texas. However, fate was unkind to Jair a year into his athletic scholarship – he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a condition that often kills young athletes suddenly.

His debut album, V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E., achieved RapReviews Top 10 Album of the Year, along with the #1 single on the Top 30 Grassroots Hip Hop Charts. Features in Blues & Soul, Knowledge Magazines, U.K., Nation-News, Barbados, two showcases at the CMJ Music Marathon and others followed. Recently, Jair’s, ‘My Style’ reached #34 on Masspool MP3 DJ pool on the Top 50 Charts and is now circulating at Canadian urban radio nationally.

Jair’s next workshop and performance is February 12th at Cedabrae C.I. On February 17, Jair Dynast will deliver the Keynote Address at the Imagine Student Success Conference.

Malvern rapper, Jair Dynast is determined to spark debate about the negative stereotypes of hip hop culture and change attitudes by quietly inspiring youngsters that experience adversity.

After Eastern Commerce, Jair traveled to Connecticut in pursuit of a basketball scholarship achieving success at a Division I JUCO in Texas. However, fate was unkind to Jair a year into his athletic scholarship – he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a condition that often kills young athletes suddenly.

Jair, means ‘one whom God has enlightened’ so he quickly turned his adversity into opportunity. Having grown up in a household filled with music, he accompanied his parents to free outdoor concerts at Ontario Place as a new immigrant from Barbados. Jair switched to music to gain solace from the discomfort he felt from not being able to play and keep his scholarship.
