Jair Dynast - Art of Invention

Jair Dynast returns with his commercial radio debut single, “My Style”. After having to give up basketball and his athletic scholarship at a Division I JUCO in Texas due to an unforeseen heart condition, Jair Dynast broke through to the hip hop world with his now critically acclaimed debut album V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E. The album produced the #1 12-inch single, “Vicious” and “Pull Up” at Grassroots Hip Hop Radio across North America as well as the Top Ten smash video single “Converse” and the #8 in the Top 100 Most Wanted “Promise” on Radio 1 Greece. V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E. was also chosen as a Top Ten Rap Album of the Year by Rap Reviews and received countless other accolades.

Jair Dynast is no stranger to the limelight as he has traveled the U.S. extensively as a former basketball scholarship athlete to a Division I JUCO in Texas.  His basketball dream ended prematurely after he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that often kills young athletes suddenly.

Jair’s musical career has been blossoming below the radar since the release of his solo debut album, V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E. which earned RapReviews Top 10 Album of the Year, along with the #1 spot on the Top 30 Grassroots Hip Hop Charts for its singles, ‘Vicious’ and #8 for ‘Promise’ on the Top 100 Most Wanted at Radio 1 in Greece. Jair has also been featured in Blues & Soul and Knowledge Magazines, U.K., Nation-News, Barbados and twice showcased at the CMJ Music Marathon, NY.

This aptly coincides with Jair’s official introduction to the national stage with distribution via DEP/Universal on February 3, 2009 of his single, “My Style”. The playful, yet intellectual street wear anthem, appeals not only to hip hop but also skateboard enthusiasts.  The Vanguard Series is the title that has been given to all the singles yet to be released in 2009, including the soon to be released single with Top 50 Billboard Chart Latino rapper MC Magic from Phoenix, AZ.

February 17th Keynote Address at 10:00 a.m. for students in Grades 7-12 from across the TDSB.

After Eastern Commerce, Jair traveled to Connecticut in pursuit of a basketball scholarship achieving success at a Division I JUCO in Texas. However, fate was unkind to Jair a year into his athletic scholarship – he was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a condition that often kills young athletes suddenly.

Jair, means ‘one whom God has enlightened’ so he quickly turned his adversity into opportunity.  Having grown up in a household filled with music, he accompanied his parents to free outdoor concerts at Ontario Place as a new immigrant from Barbados. Jair switched to music to gain solace from the discomfort he felt from not being able to play and keep his scholarship.

His debut album, V.I.A.L.E.N.C.E., achieved RapReviews Top 10 Album of the Year, along with the #1 single on the Top 30 Grassroots Hip Hop Charts. Features in Blues & Soul, Knowledge Magazines, U.K., Nation-News, Barbados, two showcases at the CMJ Music Marathon and others followed. In two months, over 34k fans have viewed Jair’s music video, ‘Simple Plan’ on: YouTube, Vimeo and Imeem combined.

Sanctioned by the TDSB, Jair will conduct 9-shows/workshops at Toronto schools for African Heritage Month and has written ‘Art of Invention’, a song paying tribute to the significant contributions African-Americans made to modern society.
