As a musician, it is always beneficial to get new music heard by as many people as possible.  One of the great ways that hip hop and other artists have accomplished this goal over the years has been to use the power of the DJs: club DJs, mixshow DJs, radio DJs, electronica, dance-house and now Internet Radio DJs.

The Internet has created several new, different avenues to spread rap music and like a wildfire, it can spread pretty rapidly.  However, not everyone is being fair and are rewarding artists for their hard work.  After all, a musician earns his living from his craft.  He makes music for everyone to enjoy and it’s an important part of the human cultural experience.

Music can calm nerves, ease depression, uplift spirits, relax people and offer motivation to some otherwise uninspired souls so it is worth the 99-cents that iTunes charge for a download.  Apart from iTunes, another way to ensure that artists, producers or songwriters or small indie record labels get a reward for the music composed is to get a Creative Commons License.

For all promotional tracks, a Creative Commons License with stipulations will ensure that the reward that is needed for its use and distribution is specified.  This is a fair trade-off for both the distributor: podcaster, Internet radio station, satellite radio, video outlet, music blog or other content websites and the artist, producer, songwriter or indie record label.
